A few months after painting ‘Your Shall Have a Fishy’ a friend contacted me and asked if I was planning any more harbour view paintings. I have to honest I thought the first was a one off piece but after a visit to Souters lighthouse in South Shields and stopping for a coffee at Royal Quays Marina my phone was once more full of photographic inspiration and this time I remembered to take a little sketchbook so had a whole host of ideas. Unlike ‘You Shall Have a Fishy’ where the viewer is at sea looking into harbour, ‘Harbour View’ conveys a view out to sea.
The view isn’t based on an actual place, rather it’s a composition of lots of different inspiration, all taken from the North East coastline.
