I love the work of Norman Cornish and pre lockdown  was lucky enough to go to the beautiful Bowes Museum to see an exhibition of his work.  It was great to see a collection of his work up close and personal from his very recognisable coal pit workers through to some commissions of North East scenes which showcased a very different style.

I didn’t want to copy Cornish’s style, not least because when I’ve tried in the past I’ve ended up producing images which did replicate the lines but lacked the spontaneity and dynamic feel of his work.  So instead decided to focus on the same subject but in my style – not quite reaching the same impact 🙂
