So, with COVID-19 dominating the news and all of our lives at the moment I find myself with a lot more time at home which is actually rather nice. However, I’ve been struggling to get into my art so I decided it was time for a new art challenge but this time thought I’d just do 30 days.
I actually decided I wanted to do another challenge when I was in final stretch of my 100 day art challenge last year but rather than drawings I thought I’d try something a bit different and play with paper craft and collage. I’ve tried collage a few times in the past although generally more to add texture as part of a piece and it isn’t a medium I usually turn to when I think about art so seemed like a good chance to do something a bit playful.
Because I didn’t want to end up with really chunky sketchbooks I thought I’d start off by creating some in greetings card size so I can use them rather than just creating something else to clutter the shelves in my art room. Also seemed like a good idea as postal communications is still allowed during this period of lockdown.
My first one is a bit twee and probably less collage like and more paper cut, although technically it fits the descriptor – according to Wikipedia “Collage is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.”
Dogs aren’t my usual go to.
