Tea-tastic Tuesday

As I’m coming to the end of my self imposed sketchbook challenge of succulent Saturdays  (I have one more I’m planning on doing at the weekend – using all the sketches over the past few weeks) I thought I’d run with a new challenge.  Like Inktober these don’t generally result in the best sketches but as I’m struggling to think of new things to draw settling on a theme is a great to keep you focused on drawing when you’re not feeling particularly inspired.

So welcome to the first of Tea-tastic Tuesday sketches, doodles focusing on my favourite brew… along with some basic factoids about the beautiful beverage.

Did you know…. Tea originated in China where it was a medicinal beverage until popularised during the Chinese Tang dynasty.  In the sixteenth century it was introduced to Europe by Portuguese merchants and fast forward a century and it was the fashionable drink in England at which point we started to see large-scale production and commercialization in India to bypass the Chinese monopoly.
