The Queen of Hearts

As today is the start of World Nursery Rhyme Week  I thought I’d share a nursery rhyme and themed doodle…

The Queen of Hearts

The Queen of Hearts
She made some tarts,
All on a summer’s day;

The Knave of Hearts
He stole those tarts,
And took them clean away.

The King of Hearts
Called for the tarts,
And beat the knave full sore;

The Knave of Hearts
Brought back the tarts,
And vowed he’d steal no more.

World Nursery Rhyme Week is a campaign that runs each year designed to raise awareness of the important role nursery rhymes play in early childhood development and education.  In addition to the joy of parent ands child time they are also excellent teaching tools:

  • Language and communication, songs and rhymes are language learners.
  • Singing nursery rhymes can help children to develop emergent literacy skills.
  • Nursery rhymes help children to develop social, physical and emotional skills.
