Paul Oz Version of ‘Calvin and Hobbes’

Calvin and Hobbes follows the adventures of the mischievous  Calvin and his stuffed tiger Hobbes, alive to him, but not to anyone else.

Bill Waterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes, is renowned for his views on licensing and commodification of art- he refused all offers of t-shirts, posters, buy ins etc for Calvin and Hobbes.

The picture featured here is our own- painted by Paul Oz, and currently hanging over our stairwell. Always fun to come home to.

I would hope that Mr. Waterson would have no problem with this reproduction- it will never be sold for profit and was produced as a birthday present to me from Mrs. Magpie.

While you can’t necessarily tell from the photo above, the texture and detail of Paul’s paintings are quite amazing. This one took a month or two to dry, and Calvin’s nose still sticks out a couple of inches.
