Born on this day in 1920 Christopher Robin, friend of Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Kanga and Roo, Piglet, Owl and Tigger in the A.A Milne books made his first appearance in 1926, in the Winnie the Pooh stories and featured in further tales from the 100 acre woods, as well as in poetry collections.
Based on Milne’s own son, Christopher Robin Milne, the character has been voiced by more than 17 actors throughout the various incarnations of the Pooh stories- most frequently with a British received accent.
Goodbye Christopher Robin, a 2017 film starring Domhnall Gleeson, Margot Robbie, Kelly Macdonald was a well received film which looked at the life of AA Milne, the aftermath of war on his psyche, and his relationship with his son, and the creation of the character based on him, and the effect being thrust into the public eye had on the boy.
A more fictionalised version of Christopher Robin is being released in 2018 by Walt Disney, starring Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell, sees a middle aged Christopher Robin finding his way again through the help of his childhood friend. We’re guessing it is going to be a little different than ‘Ted‘
