Learning to Use Watercolour

So we recently returned from holiday – two weeks in Jamaica which was bliss.  Whilst I was over there I thought I’d take the opportunity of a fortnight of free time to play around with watercolour paint.

Its a medium I’ve never really used before in part because I generally find the chocolate box style pictures you associate with watercolour to be a bit insipid but as they are easily portable I thought they’d be a good choice for holiday.  I treated myself to a set of paints before I went as they were on offer at Cass Art and I couldn’t resist.

I picked up some cheap watercolour pads at the Works but also found these watercolour postcard blocks at Tiger which were only a couple of quid.

My first attempt was pretty crap but with the help of some YouTube videos and copied sketches from Pinterest I was quite pleased with some of the pictures I completed over the fortnight – I’ll post a few each day.
