On this day in 1887 L.S. Lowry was born in Lancashire.
Famous for painting industrial scenes in the North West he had a distinctive matchstick men style to his paintings which along with the lack of weather effects resulted in many rejecting his art as naive.
Today (thankfully!) most reject this view.
I love the paintings of Lowry but haven’t yet visited the gallery in Liverpool that carries his name and has a permanent display of his work.
