Celebrating Giacometti Part 2

I started with a wire base which is exactly the same technique that I used when I created the wire figures earlier this year – Click here.

You start by molding a basic stick man shape from wire, I used the thicker garden wire for this as it gives a sturdy base to start from.

Next taking some chicken wire build out the slightly thicker parts of the body like the chest, hips and head.  Once you’re happy with your basic shape you need to play around with the figure to get the shape and structure you want.

Once you’re happy with the figure framework take some tin/aluminium foil and wrap around the wire framework to fill the figure out.

Continue until you have an overall shape that you’re happy with.

Tomorrow I’ll start with the plaster 🙂
