You don’t have to be a great seamstress to create handmade gifts and this personalised bookmark is an example of that fact. With a few basic embroidery stitches you can transform some scraps of material into a little gift
You Will Need
- Selection of material
- Embroidery thread
How to Make
Cut out your basic shapes. I used felt for the basic bookmark shape because it doesn’t fray so doesn’t need to be hemmed
Pin your bird base to one side of the bookmark and sew it, I used blanket stitch.
Once complete add the breast panel and wing
Using black thread sew an eye and legs to your design and if you want to add additional embellishment add it at this stage.
Once your basic design is complete, using running stitch attach the front of your bookmark to a back panel, this hides all the messy stitching.
Once complete trim your bookmark leaving on a couple of millimetres to the edge.
